Meet the Team
The Cisco Wireless Platform team builds the foundational embedded software that powers Cisco’s wireless products. We work closely with hardware, system architecture, test, and product teams to bring up new platforms, enable core subsystems, and deliver reliable, high-performance software at scale. Our work spans platform bring-up, low-level software development, system integration, and product readiness for enterprise wireless solutions.
Your Impact
As a Platform Engineer, you will design, develop, and integrate embedded platform software for Cisco wireless products. You will own portions of low-level platform software, drive subsystem integration, and troubleshoot system issues across development and productization. We’re looking for engineers who combine strong embedded Linux fundamentals with hands-on debugging experience and the ability to work effectively across hardware and software boundaries. The ideal candidate is comfortable taking ownership, driving issues to closure, and using modern AI-enabled engineering practices to improve productivity and execution
Responsibilities
Design, develop, debug, and validate embedded software for wireless platform products.
Own and enhance low-level platform components, including board support packages, platform services, boot-time initialization, and device-level software.
Drive hardware bring-up and subsystem integration for new and existing platforms.
Investigate complex software and system issues in embedded Linux environments and perform root-cause analysis to deliver robust fixes.
Contribute to performance, stability, and reliability improvements across the platform.
Work closely with hardware, test, manufacturing, and product engineering teams to deliver production-ready solutions.
Contribute to code reviews, testing, automation, and continuous integration with a strong focus on software quality and maintainability.
Use AI-assisted development and debugging tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and development efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
Advanced proficiency in C/C++ and working knowledge of Python or shell scripting.
Extensive experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex low-level software, including Linux kernel and U-Boot bootloaders.
Proven ability to optimize and customize kernel and bootloader code for ARM-based embedded platforms.
Deep expertise in peripheral communication and configuration, including I2C, SPI, PCIe (root complex and device enumeration), and Ethernet port bring-up (PHY/MAC initialization).
Strong proficiency in Secure Boot architecture, multi-stage authentication, image decryption, and system integrity.
Skilled in diagnosing and resolving complex software and system issues within embedded environments.
Experience or strong interest in leveraging AI-assisted tools for development, debugging, test automation, and productivity.
Ability to work independently, collaborate within cross-functional teams, and take full ownership of features and technical resolutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with board bring-up, device drivers, or BSP development.
Familiarity with interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, PCIe, or Ethernet.
Exposure to networking fundamentals or wireless technologies.
