Contract Manager
Location: Quebec City or Montreal, QC (Hybrid)
Position type: Permanent, Full-time
EXFO is a global leader in test, monitoring, and analytics solutions for telecommunications networks. Our success is driven by innovation, collaboration, and the talent of our teams around the world.
We are creating this role to transform contract management from a primarily administrative function into a true business enabler. The successful candidate will own the contract lifecycle, directly negotiate certain agreements within the guidelines established by legal counsel, proactively drive files forward, and turn DocuSign CLM into a performance tool for the T&M and Homeland Security teams. This is a role for someone who wants to build, influence, and create value—not simply administer a platform.
Act as the primary point of contact for contract requests, triaging, prioritizing, and managing files based on risk level, urgency, and business impact.
Conduct initial reviews and directly negotiate standard or moderately complex commercial contracts within the parameters established by legal counsel.
Proactively identify commercial, operational, and legal issues that may delay contracts and recommend practical solutions.
Maintain the central contract repository and calendar of deadlines, renewals, and notice periods, ensuring that signed versions match approved versions.
Take ownership of DocuSign CLM and leverage it as a value-creation tool through user adoption, templates, workflows, automated follow-ups, data quality, and performance metrics.
Leverage artificial intelligence tools to accelerate contract review, summarization, and follow-up while applying sound judgment to validate results.
Work closely with Sales, Finance, Operations, Compliance, and Procurement teams to reduce contractual friction and accelerate negotiation cycles.
Support due diligence activities, compliance requests (KYC, financing, transactions), and the management of external legal counsel mandates.
Document, improve, and evolve contract management processes to mitigate risks, prevent value leakage, and improve visibility into EXFO’s contractual commitments.
Degree or diploma in Law, Business Administration, Contract Management, or Legal Techniques; a relevant combination of education and experience will also be considered.
3 to 6 years of relevant experience in contract management, commercial contracts, legal operations, or a related environment.
Hands-on experience reviewing, coordinating, or negotiating commercial contracts, ideally within a technology, international, or B2B environment.
Strong business judgment, with the ability to understand the commercial context, distinguish significant risks from minor issues, and propose pragmatic compromises.
Autonomy and initiative, with the ability to take a position, make recommendations, follow up, drive files forward, and take ownership of decisions under the guidance of legal counsel.
Strong critical-thinking skills, with the ability to read between the lines, identify potential issues, ask the right questions, and challenge existing practices when appropriate.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work directly with diverse teams, build trust, and influence without formal authority.
Strong digital proficiency with CLM platforms, AI tools, and contract data, with a mindset focused on turning technology into a driver of efficiency.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to deadlines, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Fluency in both French and English, spoken and written.
