Overview
Mastercard Security Solutions Organisation (SSO) is responsible for safeguarding trust in payments, both now and in future. The Identity solutions team in Europe is looking for an experienced Product Manager to support the development and commercialisation of next-generation identity, authentication and fraud solutions across Europe.
The role will focus on emerging identity technologies, payment authentication, tokenisation and the use of device, behavioural and identity signals to improve fraud detection and risk decisioning. The successful candidate will work closely with product, technology, regulatory, commercial and customer-facing teams across multiple European markets.
The ideal candidate will combine strong product management skills with hands-on payments implementation experience, particularly within a bank, issuer, wallet or payment technology environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop a detailed understanding of how payment, authorization and authentication journeys are evolving through network tokenisation, digital wallets, token provisioning, Click to Pay, passkeys and EMV 3DS.
Identify opportunities for Mastercard to deliver value-added identity, risk and fraud services within these workflows.
Assess key points within the customer journey were additional data, risk intelligence or decisioning could improve security, fraud prevention, approval rates or customer experience.
Work closely with global product and technology teams to translate identified opportunities into new product concepts, requirements and roadmap priorities.
Engage with issuers, banks, merchants, wallet providers and other ecosystem participants to validate customer problems and potential propositions.
Monitor developments across passkeys, FIDO standards, wallet authentication, tokenisation and emerging payment credentials and assess their implications for Mastercard’s value-added services.
Develop business cases and go-to-market strategies for new capabilities emerging from these workflows.
Experience & Skills
Experience working within a bank, issuer, payment network, fintech, 3DS vendor or payment technology company.
Experience directly involved in wallet provisioning, tokenisation or authentication implementation programmes.
Strong understanding of PSD2, SCA, EMV 3-D Secure (3DS) and the European payments regulatory environment including familiarity with ongoing PSD3 and Payment Services Regulation (PSR) developments
Familiarity with concepts such as device fingerprinting, device reputation, behavioural biometrics, anomaly detection, risk-based decisioning and authorization decisioning would be highly desirable.
Understanding of passkeys / FIDO-based authentication and their role in future payment and authentication journeys.
Experience working across multiple European markets and navigating complex regulatory and customer environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn complex technical concepts into clear product propositions and customer use cases.
Strong stakeholder-management skills and ability to work across product, technology, regulatory and commercial organisations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical, engineering, computer science, data, payments or related discipline.
Relevant experience in payments, identity, authentication, fraud, financial services technology or a related field
