Role: Infrastructure Operations Specialist (I)  (UNIX/Linux) – P1

Location: GCC (Global Capability Center) –Gurgaon
Shift: 24x7 Rotational Shifts

🔷 Role Summary

We are looking for an entry-level UNIX/Linux Server Operations Engineer (L1) to support a global infrastructure environment. The role primarily focuses on real-time system monitoring (eyes on glass), incident handling, and basic troubleshooting of UNIX/Linux systems. The candidate will ensure system availability, respond to alerts, and coordinate with L2/L3 teams and vendors for issue resolution in a high-availability environment.

This role requires strong communication and collaboration skills, as you will work with global teams and support critical business systems.

🔷 Key Responsibilities

• Perform 24x7 monitoring of UNIX/Linux servers and infrastructure systems
• Act as first line of support (L1) – detect, log, and respond to alerts and incidents
• Lead initial incident bridge calls and coordinate with L2/L3 teams and vendors
• Manage tickets through ServiceNow / ITSM tools, ensuring SLA adherence
• Perform basic troubleshooting for Linux/UNIX issues and escalate as required
• Monitor system performance using tools such as AppDynamics and Splunk
• Ensure timely communication to stakeholders during incidents
• Follow runbooks/SOPs for incident resolution and escalation
• Assist in documenting operational procedures and improving processes
• Support system availability and performance monitoring across global environments

🔷 Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree: B.E. / B.Tech / MCA
• 1–3 years of experience in UNIX/Linux support, monitoring, or IT operations
• Basic knowledge of UNIX/Linux (Linux, RedHat, SUSE, Solaris – any exposure)
• Understanding of ServiceNow or similar ticketing tools
• Exposure to monitoring tools (AppDynamics preferred)
• Knowledge of incident management and escalation processes
• Ability to respond to system alerts and dynamically reprioritize tasks
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a global environment

🔷 Good to Have Skills

• Exposure to Splunk or log monitoring tools
• Basic knowledge of shell scripting (Unix/Linux)
• Familiarity with virtualization (VMware)
• Exposure to cloud environments (Azure, OCI, or AWS)
• Basic understanding of infrastructure (servers, storage)

• Good team collaboration and coordination skills
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt quickly

• Willingness to work in 24x7 rotational shifts

• Ability to handle critical alerts and incidents efficiently
