Company at a Glance
OpenX is focused on unleashing the full economic potential of digital media companies. We do this by making digital advertising markets and technologies that are designed to deliver optimal value to publishers and advertisers on every ad served across all screens.
At OpenX, we have built a team that is uniquely experienced in designing and operating high-scale ad marketplaces, and we are constantly on the lookout for thoughtful, creative executors who are as fascinated as we are about finding new ways to apply a blend of market design, technical innovation, operational excellence, and empathetic partner service to the frontiers of digital advertising.
At OpenX Poland, we are looking for a talented, communicative, and curious Software Development Engineer IV in Test to join our team in Cracow, Poland.
You will join the Platform Team at OpenX, specifically focusing on the Marketplace, which is responsible for the maintenance and development of the UI and API components of our platform. Our exchange handles billions of ad requests every day, connecting thousands of publishers with demand partners across the global advertising ecosystem. The platform runs in the cloud across multiple regions and operates at a scale where performance, reliability, correctness, and every millisecond matter.
You will be part of a cross-functional platform engineering team focused on the Marketplace workflows that support how our core exchange operates. The components and tools help internal and external users manage marketplace settings, configure integrations for publishers and demand partners, review transaction setups, and ensure that platform behavior aligns with optimal liquidity and exchange performance.
In this senior SDET role, you will take strong ownership not only of test automation, but also of building new frameworks and maintaining existing ones — for TypeScript-based frontend applications as well as for API testing. This role is ideal for someone who wants to go beyond just testing and work on creating and maintaining test frameworks and testing approaches used across the organization.
The primary stack for this role includes: TypeScript, Playwright, React-based applications, Java, Python, Pytest, Spinnaker (CI/CD). The broader engineering environment also includes Node.js, GraphQL, GCP, and Kubernetes.
You do not need to be an expert in every part of our stack, but you definitely need to be eager to grow in those directions and bring a can-do attitude.
Prior AdTech experience is helpful, but not required.
What we offer:
- Employment contract (22 595 - 25 254 PLN gross/monthly) OR B2B (181 - 202 PLN net/hourly)
- Working with the newest technologies such as Cloud Computing (GCP)
- Challenges at work that are difficult to find anywhere else!
- Solving important problems in a scale
- Joining a company that is growing and scaling
- Flexible working hours & remote work option
Key responsibilities
- Own, build, and evolve UI (TypeScript/Playwright) and API (Java/Python) test automation frameworks used across the organization, designing and maintaining tests across both layers for complex Marketplace workflows and integrations.
- Improve the reliability, speed, and maintainability of test automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
- Be involved in all phases of platform development, from requirements and architecture design to validation, deployment, and release readiness.
- Partner with engineers and stakeholders across the organization to identify quality risks early, applying risk-based testing to make pragmatic coverage decisions across unit, integration, API, and end-to-end levels.
- Investigate test failures, flaky tests, and production issues, driving root cause analysis with actionable improvements.
- Communicate quality risks, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in test automation or software engineering in test, including hands-on experience designing and maintaining test automation frameworks, not just writing tests within them.
- Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript and Playwright (or a comparable frontend framework such as Cypress).
- Solid experience with API testing in Java and/or Python, ideally with pytest.
- Practical knowledge of test design techniques and risk-based testing.
- Experience with CI/CD tooling and pipelines, and improving automated test execution in CI environments.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Docker, Spinnaker, or similar cloud and deployment technologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, able to triage complex issues across application, test, and infrastructure layers.
- Experience working in an agile engineering environment.
- Strong communication skills, comfortable working with SDETs, software engineers, and stakeholders across the organization.
- Communicative Polish and English.
