JOB SUMMARY:

The Cybersecurity Engineer I supports cybersecurity engineering, compliance, and risk management activities for mission and enterprise systems. Working under the guidance of senior cybersecurity personnel, this role assists with security control implementation assessment, supporting vulnerability management, maintaining secure configurations, and ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity requirements.

The Cybersecurity Engineer I partners with systems, cloud, network, database, and infrastructure teams to assess cloud and on-prem systems against Impact Level 5 (IL5) and NSS cybersecurity controls, support vulnerability scanning and remediation analysis operations, as well as support system accreditation activities.

This project delivers a comprehensive cybersecurity assessment and migration of the as-is IL2 system to the to-be IL5 AWS GovCloud environment while preserving operational capability. The work will be performed 100% remotely.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist with Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities, including system documentation, security control implementation assessment, and assessment support.
Conduct vulnerability assessments and assist with remediation planning and tracking.
Support Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance efforts and remediation activities.
Review system configurations and assist with secure baseline management.
Participate in system security reviews, audits, and accreditation activities.
Work with engineering and operations teams to integrate security requirements into system changes and upgrades.
Maintain cybersecurity documentation, procedures, and technical artifacts.
Assist with the creation of Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) to track implementation of NIST 800-53 security controls and related compliance requirements.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
2-4 years of cybersecurity, systems administration, network administration, or information assurance experience.
Familiarity with RMF, NIST 800-53, and federal cybersecurity requirements.
Experience supporting Windows and/or Linux environments.
Understanding of networking fundamentals and security principles.
Experience with vulnerability scanning and remediation processes.
Ability to review technical documentation and security requirements.
Secret Clearance required.
Security+ required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is performed within a 100% remote working environment. Employees must comply with all applicable security protocols and access control procedures, including restrictions on personal electronic devices and the handling of sensitive controlled unclassified information (CUI).

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base salary.

Estimated Pay Range

$110,000—$135,000 USD
