Job Description

The Material Planner is responsible for ensuring the availability of spare parts and manufacturing supplies to support ongoing manufacturing and maintenance operations. This position manages inventory planning parameters, monitors material levels, and creates purchase requisitions in Oracle Cloud. The role also oversees the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process for part number creation and changes, working closely with Engineering and Procurement to ensure accurate setup, pricing, and lifecycle management of materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and maintain adequate inventory levels for spare parts and manufacturing supplies to support operational requirements.
• Manage and optimize min/max levels and other planning parameters in Oracle Cloud.
• Create and manage purchase requisitions and ensure timely follow up with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor and coordinate part deliveries to ensure alignment with the quarterly material forecast spend and operational schedules.
• Lead the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process for part number creation, updates, and end-of-life management.
• Collaborate with Engineering to support new or special part requests and ensure accurate part setup in the system.
• Partner with Procurement to address pricing, sourcing, and supplier related issues.
• Analyze consumption data and recommend adjustments to planning parameters to improve supply reliability and inventory performance.
• Support internal audits and compliance initiatives related to material control and planning processes.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in planning accuracy, system utilization, and process efficiency.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in material planning, production planning, or inventory management in a manufacturing or maintenance support environment.
• Proficiency in Oracle Cloud  or equivalent ERP systems.
• Strong understanding of inventory management principles, including min/max planning, safety stock, and lead time management.
• Experience working with Engineering Change Notice (ECN) or similar change control processes.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related analytical tools.

PREFFERED:

• Experience with spare parts or indirect materials planning.

• An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
• The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York.  This range may be modified in the future.
• If your position is non-exempt, you are eligible for overtime pay pursuant to company policy and applicable laws.  You may also be eligible for shift differential pay, depending on the shift to which you are assigned.

• You will be eligible to be considered for bonuses under either WD’s Short Term Incentive Plan (“STI Plan”) or the Sales Incentive Plan (“SIP”) which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance, depending on your role and your performance. You may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to WD's Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
